Welcome Back to the Tavern Bar & Restaurant
During Lock Down we have been working hard to improve the Bar and Restaurant for our Customers Return. This has included re-refurbishing a number of areas within the building, but also additional measures to keep both our Customers & Staff Safe.
You will find that a number of things have changed, in line with current Scottish Government Guidelines. There will be things that we are not able to do as we would have done before, but whilst we have put everything in place to ensure everything is done right when visiting us, we are also committed to making sure our Customers find the time they dine with us as enjoyable as it is safe.
With this is mind, we also have a slight change to our usual carvery service, this will now be a plated service. You are of course more than welcome to ask a member of staff for more veg while you visit and they will be happy to assist.
On arrival, you will be greeted by a member of the team at the main door front desk and asked to use hand sanitiser before entering the building to be seated. You will be asked to provide contact details which MUST be provided for the track and trace (this is due to Scottish Government rules and not our own and is needed in the event that someone who visits us tests positive for COVID19 at a later date)
While we are happy to take walk in’s when the restaurant is quiet, it is best to book in advance.
PLEASE DO NOT Visit us if you have any symptoms, test positive or are waiting for test results back for COVID19.
Our staff have been given all of the relevant training surrounding COVID19 and are equipped with the appropriate PPE.

The First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has unveiled a range of new restrictions in order to combat the rise in Covid-19 infections.
Government regulations on COVID-19 are changing frequently. Before you travel, you need to ensure you have checked and understood the relevant regulations applicable to you, your location, your destination and the make-up of your party and it is your responsibility to comply with such regulations.
We have set out below our understanding of the regulations relevant to party size and regional restrictions for Scotland as of Tuesday 24th November 2020.
Please note that the below is not legal advice and you must make sure you familiarise yourself with the relevant government regulations.
The main announcements in the First Ministers statement to parliament were as follows:
There will be a new five level system for Scotland has come into place from Monday 2nd November at 6am.
Nicola Sturgeon the First Minister of Scotland has stated that the level a local authority will be placed in will be reviewed on a weekly Basis. The proposals will be put to Parliament every Tuesday and the changes will take effect every Friday. Premises will therefore have three days warning of changes coming into effect.
We Can Confirm that Scottish Borders remains in Level Two
The next update will be Tuesday 1st December 2020, changes will come into effect from Friday 4th December 2020 and it will follow that pattern weekly thereafter.
There will be no automatic application of a single statistic – the First Minister said these only inform and guide and the Scottish Government will, at first, be deliberately cautious. The hope is to slow rate of new cases and the overall aim is to get every Council area to level 1 then level 0 of the framework.
The Scottish Government do not rule out further restrictions – including closure – if guidance on hygiene, facemasks, social distancing are not complied with.
Visiting other households indoors are still not permitted in Scotland including Self Catering Accommodation’s & Caravan Parks.

The ASSC has obtained legal clarification from the Scottish Government that the bans on visiting other households indoors has now been extended to self-catering accommodations. This is also the case for all private dwellings: hotels, hostels, members clubs, boarding houses or bed and breakfasts. The new restrictions apply to people’s homes and commercial accommodation businesses.
Self-catering businesses, like others within the tourism and hospitality sector, remain open to receive visitors if existing guidelines are adhered to.
